Lourdes (Gutierrez) Marozas-Aliaga, PhD. holds degrees in civil engineering, sustainability and finance. She has experience in diverse engineering projects from mining, transportation, building construction, microgrids, energy efficiency and rail manufacturing. She has managed 105 construction projects on a variety of buildings in her homeland of Peru. In United States, NY, she has collaborated on 8 microgrid projects and was part of the management team to build the first high speed train in USA. Currently, she is Staff Engineer for the Office of the President at Rochester Institute of Technology, where she is implementing a data driven project to reduce energy across the campus.
Her PhD research work was awarded a $1MM NYSERDA grant. Her research work was previously funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, National Science Foundation-I Corps program, Pacific Northwest National Lab and the Association of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers. She built a building automation solution using open source software that was awarded as the Most Innovative at the PNNL's Connected Buildings Challenge. Her PhD thesis focused on energy saving strategies using occupancy data, where she used her knowledge on green buildings and HVAC as LEED AP BD+C and Certified Energy Manager (CEM).
